AI Assistant

You can use AI assistant in the modern campaign editor to improve copy directly inside your email while you build.

It is designed for focused editing, so it works on the element you have selected and helps you keep refining the result through the same conversation.

When this feature is available

AI assistant is available in the modern campaign editor when you select a supported element.

Currently supported:

  • text elements
  • button elements

If no supported element is selected, AI assistant cannot apply changes.

How to open AI assistant

  1. Open your campaign in the modern editor.
  2. Select a text or button element in the canvas.
  3. In the right sidebar, select AI .

The assistant opens in the right panel and shows which element is currently in focus.

What AI can help with

For text elements, AI assistant currently offers quick actions such as:

  • Improve clarity
  • Make shorter
  • Make engaging
  • Make professional
  • Add urgency

For button elements, AI assistant currently offers quick actions such as:

  • Strengthen CTA
  • Make shorter
  • Clarify action
  • Highlight benefit
  • Soften tone

You can also type your own instruction instead of using a quick action.

How to use AI assistant

  1. Select a supported element.
  2. Open AI assistant.
  3. Choose a quick action or type your own instruction.
  4. Send the request.

BetterMail updates the selected element with the new copy and shows the AI response in the chat so you can continue refining it.

How context works

AI assistant includes a context toggle in the assistant header:

  • High  uses broader email context to make more informed suggestions. This is the default setting.
  • Medium  focuses more tightly on the selected element.

Even when High  context is selected, AI assistant only updates the currently selected text or button element.

How conversations work

AI assistant keeps one conversation for the current editing session.

This means you can continue the same conversation as you move between supported text and button elements during the session.

When you switch to another supported element, the next AI request applies to the newly selected element while keeping the existing conversation history visible.

Tips for better results

  • Be specific about the tone you want, such as friendly, professional, or urgent.
  • For buttons, describe what should feel clearer after the click.
  • If the first result is close but not right, continue the conversation and ask for a smaller adjustment.
  • Review the updated copy in the context of your email before saving.

Important notes

  • AI assistant updates only the selected supported element.
  • The assistant does not automatically rewrite the whole email.
  • If you change the selected element, the focus shown in the assistant updates to match.
